Aperitivo in Florence

Aperitivo is a nightly ritual which usually takes place between 7 pm and 9pm.  It is also referred to as Apericena because it is a before dinner drink combined with food.  Some restaurants offer a light snack with an aperitivo while others put out a spread of food fit for a king.  Dinner is not a necessity at some of these restaurants.  Make sure you let the waiter know that you want to stay for aperitivo when you order your drink.

A great place for aperitivo in Florence is Soul Kitchen located on Via de’ Benci.  For 10 euros, you get 1 drink and this spread of food which consists of fried polenta, vegetable casseroles, chicken and vegetables, quiches, fried dough, cheese, pasta dishes and cake. Selections vary upon the night, but the food is fresh and of high quality for aperitivo.
