Ingredients
- • 1 cup (200 g) of sugar
- • ½ fresh grated nutmeg
- • 2 cinnamon sticks
- • 8 cloves
- • 1 orange and 1 lemon (untreated)
- • 4 ½ cups (1 lt) of full-bodied red wine
Instructions
- Pour the sugar and the spices into a large steel frying pan. Add the citrus zests, peeled off with a peeler, trying to avoid as much as possible the bitter, white pith… pour the wine… and place it on the fire until it comes to a boil. Make sure that the sugar has dissolved, after that it’s time to ignite the wine. Use a burning long match to keep a safe distance… and wait until the flames go out by themselves. After sifting and ladling into mugs, your mulled wine is ready to be sipped.
