Vet Emergency in Pienza

Vet Emergency in Pienza

For those who follow my page probably know I have a beagle named Baci who I brought to Italy from NY when I moved here.  She has been my one constant thing which helped me make the transition from NY to Florence.  Italy is so pet friendly so I try to take her often with me because she is always welcome.  She has been on buses, in supermarkets, stores, agriturismos, restaurants and so much more.

We recently spent a few days in the Tuscan countryside about 2 hours from Florence where we live.  Unfortunately, she was stung by a bee which I pulled from her after I heard her yelp.  She seemed ok immediately after, but while I was at a restaurant an hour later, I saw she was shaking and in pain holding her leg up where she had been stung.

I asked the waiter if there was a vet nearby and I will never forget the compassion this man showed for me and my dog.  This waiter looked at my dog and said “Come with me, I will take you.”  He just walked out of the restaurant during his shift and took me to a vet a few minutes away.  He also stayed with me and helped me explain everything to the vet before he left us.  The vet immediately examined my dog and gave her a shot for the inflammation and pain.  An emergency visit in the states is quite expensive, but this vet only charged me 10 euros.

Within 45 minutes, my dog Baci was out of pain and smiling.

I wanted to share this story and again thank this wonderful waiter at Baccano Il Panino Toscano in Pienza.  This is surely a place I recommend in Pienza where you will feel at home like family and can enjoy good food and wine.

Here is a photo of the waiter who helped me.  He is in the white shirt.
