If you are missing Venice, check out these webcams showing what’s happening in Venice in the moment!
Venice is the capital of northern Italy’s Veneto region. There are many popular sites to see and things to do in Venice such as St. Mark’s Square, Rialto Bridge, St. Mark’s Basilica, Doge’s Palace, Bridge of Sighs, Grand canal, St. Mark’s Campanele, plus so much more! After you are finished with the aforementioned, wander the back canals and get lost! The smaller canals away from tourist areas are a great place to take a stroll.
Gondola rides can be expensive and even more so at night. The city of Venice sets the fee at 80 Euros for 40 minutes during the day and 100 Euros at night after 7:00 pm. Make sure to confirm the fee and time as not all gondoliers abide by this and charge more. Moreover, if you want your gondolier to sing, you will surely be paying more for that! It’s definitely and experience to take a gondola ride but if it is out of your budget the water ferry also offers great views at reasonable price. The water ferry is just not as intimate which may not matter to you at all.
If you are spending a few days in Venice, then head over to Murano Island to see the glass blowers and Burano Island to see the lace. Many hotels will arrange a free water taxi to to take you to Murano Island and then a tour of one of the shops. You will have to take the ferry to return to the area of Venice in which you are staying.
