There are some English words that mean something else in Italian. These are sometimes called false friends.
When learning a new language, it is easy to be fooled into thinking you know the meaning of a word because it sounds or means something in your mother tongue language. However, be careful! There are a number of words in Italian that do not mean the English equivalent!
