Today was my first Thanksgiving in Florence and I didn’t want to miss out on “turkey day”. I definitely missed my family and friends back home, but I was happy to share this American tradition with an Italian friend who never before experienced it.
After calling many restaurants, I decided to go to Il Porcospino which is located near the central market at Piazza di Madonna degli Aldobrandini, 11-red, 50123 Firenze. Telephone: 055 217700
For 25 Euro this was the menu. And they kept serving seconds and thirds, just no left overs to take home for those sandwiches later as I was always used to.
The restaurant offered all of the traditional side dishes to go along with the turkey. The only dish that was not per say “traditional” was the stuffing. Although very tasty, it was more like a slice of sausage meatloaf opposed to the bready stuffing I was used to. All around a very good meal and a fun night celebrating Thanksgiving in Italy.
Here’s a little singing from the crowd which got everyone in spirit.
